Inner Balance
"Alice, my littlest daughter, is four years old. She was diagnosed at age 2 with Rett Syndrome, which is a neurological disorder that robs a little girl, at around 12 to 18 months, of her abilities to use her hands, to move, to talk.... My mother has studied Reiki and encouraged me to try it with Alice because she, as a Grammy and as a Reiki practitioner, has had such success in reaching Alice and has elicited such impressive response from her. Rett forces its sufferer into an autistic-like world, and communication becomes minimal. This is very painful, because many researchers and parents believe that there is more intelligence hidden in these girls than is evident, due to their lack of muscle control and verbal abilities.
Alice has a severe form of Rett, and is physically very incapacitated. But when she has a Reiki session with Paula, she becomes peaceful and comfortable for days afterwards. I have seen other little girls who deal with Rett and they often cannot make eye contact at all, or enjoy toys, or endure new surroundings or noises. Alice is very social and connected with people; in fact, seems to thrive on being in social situations, on making and holding eye contact, almost like she is attuned now to communicating in a different plane. People respond to her and recognize her peacefulness and sweetness. I have seen her react to Paula's connection with her and treatment with unexpected words (very rare) and improved physiological functions (Rett girls tend to be very constipated). More importantly, the energy work Paula has done has brought Alice back into our plane where she becomes more present, and aware of social rhythms and responses and connections, instead of being lost in the uncomfortable world of autism. This has made caring for her more rewarding and successful, because of her involvement and ability to understand, even though she cannot speak.
After two years of treatment every week or so, I started to forget appointments with Paula.... And instead of chastising me or subtly maligning my lack of consideration, Paula recognized that it had become less of a priority for Alice, and she was actually right. She was again seeing the deeper levels of events. So we've taken a break from Reiki, and Alice, for a month or so now, has been very content and very connected, and quite healthy physically, and just sailing along on the energy balance that Paula has provided her. We look forward to the next time we come in to be with Paula, and know that when the Rett monster starts to pull her down again, Paula's touch will enable Alice to resurface and fight once more."

"My physical therapist suggested I see Paula for whiplash, saying Paula is good with neck problems, and the physical therapist wasn't able to work with mine. Because Paula can detect energy blockages, spasmodic muscles, and the personal issues underlying various physical afflictions, she was able to tell me that there really weren't any problems in my neck but, rather, that I had some stuck energy in my middle back. I saw various shades of purple and interesting shapes while she worked on me, and some old issues having to do with my father and a childhood trauma surfaced. Paula and I both felt it release. We both saw the same colors. I had been trying, with my physical therapist, to do a certain stretch with my back against a wall and raising my arms over my head. Yay, Paula. I'm not sure what she did, but it worked, and the released muscles have remained loose. She works "magic" by combining her training in massage and energy work with some incredible, innate abilities. I am a psychotherapist and Reiki teacher and have never seen anyone do what Paula did."
