Nestled right between your eyebrows, the third eye is thought to be connected to your pituitary gland, which has been called the "master gland" of the body, responsible for regulating your biochemistry, as well as acting as the "seat of the mind"/center of your intellect.

The fifth chakra, the throat chakra, is the first of the higher chakras, which are concerned with the spiritual realms. Known as Vishuddha in Sanskrit, the throat chakra is the powerhouse of communication, self-expression, and how we put our truth out into the world.

The fourth chakra is known as Anahata in Sanskrit, which loosely translates to “unstruck”, the concept of being unhurt or unbroken. And this beautiful notion is a great thing to keep in mind while working with your heart.

The 3rd chakra is called Manipura in Sanskrit, and is known as the center for our willpower, sense of self, and the seat of our motivation. This is also the chakra that governs our digestion, energy levels, and zest for life.

The sacral chakra is where we tap in to our primal desire for passion and self-expression, and when it is open and healthy, we experience balanced emotional expression, healthy relationship dynamics, and feel sexually empowered and fulfilled.

The root forms our energetic base, and is related to our most primitive needs like food, shelter, security, and tribal association. Our first chakra is what we build upon as we grow up from infancy, and a solid root chakra is necessary for a balanced, grounded, and empowered life.
